Yesterday we considered how angels help us and how angels protect us.  But, from Biblical accounts, angels have even greater roles.

It is a confusing fact that the first passion of the first Christians was not to evangelize their world, though they did.  This week we have watched them take Christ to the "ends of the earth."  Why would Peter preach to the very men who crucified Jesus? 

I'll stay faithful to the last word I heard from God, knowing that every act of obedience today bears eternal reward and significance.  I'll do what I can and trust God to do what I cannot. 

Today is called dies cinerum (day of ashes) in the Roman Catholic liturgy, the first day of Lent.  This day's observance dates from at least the eighth century. 

When you win, the world adores you.  When you lose, the world forgets all about you.  (Quick: Who lost last year's Super Bowl?)...Only God's love is unconditional.  Is your job? 

I can grind my teeth, but God doesn't.  He is busy using the latest innovations to spread his good news to more people than ever before in human history.

If Solomon couldn't discover anything about his future, I shouldn't be surprised by the morning news. The good news is that God already has a plan to redeem whatever this day brings.
