Moses was the first person to ever write what we now consider Scripture. The events that preceded the Exodus were passed down from generation to generation orally. As a result, the verses describing Noah and the ark are written in the form of a story. II Timothy 3:16-7 says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." The story of Noah was passed down and ultimately written because of the inspiration of God and is, therefore, much more than a story.
