Yesterday we asked if we can be sure of our salvation. How can we know that we know? Let's start with God's promise: "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13).

As we saw yesterday, Jesus is his Christmas gift to us. He was born in Bethlehem to solve our greatest problem: our alienation from God, each other, and ourselves. The last sin you and I committed was enough to separate us from a holy God and his perfect purpose for our lives. How can we restore this broken relationship?

What could cause you to lose your work today? Could your boss fire you? Could your family circumstances change?...Schopenhauer said that the brevity of life is the best thing about it--there's your uplifting thought for the day. Here's the good news this morning: if Jesus is your Lord, your eternal position is guaranteed.

As we have seen in our Friday series, much of our society does not believe that it needs what we offer. Only two percent of Americans are afraid they might go to hell. "Truth" is personal and subjective; Christianity is "your" truth but that doesn't make it "my" truth. As we continue this Lenten season, how do we help our friends trust the Christ we love? Do we let them try to climb out of their spiritual graves, or curl up in the corner? Or do we go and get them out?

"GodIssues" exists to help people follow Jesus. We want to give those who are exploring spiritual truth a place to ask hard questions and find relevant answers. And we want to help believers understand their faith more fully and live it out more practically.
